Special Olympics
Recent ActivityLufkin High School participates in Special Olympics Texas athletic activities. Athletes compete in Winter and Summer Games at the local, area and state level. Competion includes bowling in the fall, and track and field events in the Spring. LHS Special Olympic Panthers enjoy traveling to out of town competitions and meeting athletes from other cities. It is a wonderful opportunity for personal growth.
Group Announcements Winter GamesWe begin training for our Winter athletic event, Bowling, begining in October at Lufkin Lanes. Practice takes place for 6 concecutive Fridays, leading up to the Area 7 Tournament in Longview and then State Games in Austin. After Completing Winter Games, training begins for Summer track and field events. Area 7 Games will be held in Lufkin at Abe Martin Stadium and then State games in Arlington, Texas
Winter and Summer GamesOur Special Olympic Panthers will attend Winter Games the first weekend in February. While in Austin for 4 days, we will visit historical sites including the State Capital. Summer Games will find us in Arlinton Texas at UT Arlington and Maveric Stadium. Our Panthers hope to bring back many medals and will proundly represent LHS at the games. We look forward to participating in the 11-12 school year.
